God of mercy and healing,
you who hear the cries of those in need,
receive these petitions of your people
that all who are troubled
may know peace, comfort, and courage.
Holy Friend,
health of the sick, comfort of the sad, rebuke of the oppressor,
judge of the greedy, hope of the repentant, friend of the downtrodden;
in prayer we lift up to you this world with its outrageous injustices
yet also its outpouring of human kindness from ordinary people.

Abba Father
O God, we pray for the victims of another senseless shooting.
You are one who knows sorrow.
You are acquainted with grief.
You are the God who weeps.
In this time of loss, comfort us.
In our fear, bring peace.
In our anger, point us to you, God of justice.
Embrace us, Lord, with your love.
For those enduring the loss of life, surround them with your presence.
Let those hurting sense and know you, the God of hope.
For those of us mourning, help us to come close to you; not against you.
Shine your light of love into the darkness of our lives.
Help us embody your love, grace, and compassion.
We need you. We confess that you, Lord Jesus, are our only hope.
Give us the courage to remain faithful to you.
In your mercy and grace, hear our prayer.

O God, reach out your hand over each of us gathered here now,
That our faith may be enlarged and fortified,
Our vision enlightened and extended,
And our compassion refreshed and widened.
Life-giving God,
heal our lives,
that we may acknowledge your wonderful deeds
and offer you thanks from generation to generation
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
